Park Board forms study committee

At their Aug. 9 meeting (agenda), the Edina Park Board approved the creation of a study committee to both conduct A) a public recreation facility inventory, and B) a feasibility study for a sports dome/indoor athletic facility. The committee members are Joseph Hulbert, Todd Fronek, Ellen Jones, David Deeds, Susan Jacobson.

John Keprios, Park and Recreation Director, has appointed Ann Kattreh, manager of Edinborough Park, as the lead staff person on the committee. He and Ed MacHolda, Assistant Director, will serve as resources.

The Park Board’s Sports Dome Study Work Group met last week. They asked if I would be willing to attend their next meeting for 5 or 10 minutes. The members are looking for clarification on the request from Council for the facility inventory. They are clear on the inventory as it relates to the dome project, but they are not as clear as to how detailed the inventory should be as it relates to the Grandview Site.

Their next meeting is on Wednesday, 8/31 from 7:30 – 8:30AM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. I’m going to attend. After that meeting, the group will be meeting on the first and third Wednesdays, from 7:30 – 8:30AM in the Mayor’s Conference Room.

This committee has a big assignment and a short timeline. I’ll do what I can to help out.
