Coming soon: Indoor Athletic Facility Interest and Facility Use Survey

Sports Dome Study Work Group member David Deeds and I have been working together to prepare an Indoor Athletic Facility Interest and Facility Use Survey. We got some great feedback from the rest of the Work Group last Thursday (9/29) and we’re currently making our final revisions.

Next week this survey will be emailed to all current user groups of Edina field space. We also hope to survey some potential dome users from surrounding communities who don’t have domes or other large indoor athletic facilities in their communities.

The response to this survey is a critical piece that will help the Work Group to determine if there is a need, desire and potential revenue to support an indoor athletic facility in Edina.

I’ll post the survey here when it’s finished.

Park Board forms study committee

At their Aug. 9 meeting (agenda), the Edina Park Board approved the creation of a study committee to both conduct A) a public recreation facility inventory, and B) a feasibility study for a sports dome/indoor athletic facility. The committee members are Joseph Hulbert, Todd Fronek, Ellen Jones, David Deeds, Susan Jacobson.

John Keprios, Park and Recreation Director, has appointed Ann Kattreh, manager of Edinborough Park, as the lead staff person on the committee. He and Ed MacHolda, Assistant Director, will serve as resources.
